Fatal Accident Closes Foothills Parkway West, Monday

Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have identified the vehicle and occupants involved in the fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on Foothills Parkway West on Monday, September 17. The driver, Kimberly Wallace Shields, 47, and two passengers, mother Linda Gayle Janes, 70 and sister, Shannon Rae Wallace, 45, were travelling in a 2017 Mazda 6 when the vehicle drove off the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire.  All of the occupants were pronounced dead on the scene.  All were from Jackson, GA.

Park rangers, along with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the Blount County Fire Department, responded to the scene.  Accident is under investigation.  No additional details are available at this time.
